A decade ago, cloud-native solutions were primarily tailored to traditional CPU architectures such as X86. However, recent advancements have enabled muti-architecture support for cloud-native platforms, particularly with the rise of Arm technology. Today, Arm processors are widely used across a myriad of cloud-native platforms. Newcomers, such as AWS Graviton, Google Axion Processors, and Microsoft Azure Cobalt, are using Arm-based CPUs to push the boundaries of price, performance, and scale, with the majority of graduated and incubated CNCF projects supporting the Arm architecture.

Phil is a Principal Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focused on core container technologies that power AWS container offerings, such as Fargate, EKS, and ECS. Phil is currently an OSS maintainer for the CNCF container project and is a member of both the Open Container Initiative (OCI) Technical Oversight Board (currently serving as chair) and the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) Technical Advisory Council. Phil is also a member of the CNCF Ambassadors program.
